Resilient Housing Markets for a Competitive Europe

Housing regulation is increasingly entering the European policy debate in the context of internal market, platform and data regulation, even though it remains primarily a competence of member states and local authorities. Current discussions centre on possible EU-level regulatory measures on short-term rentals, as well as new transparency and data collection requirements. This Brussels event addresses these developments by bringing together key stakeholder groups, from the housing and property sector to platform operators, tourism, finance and taxpayer representation, for a structured exchange.

The central question is how EU regulatory approaches in this area can be designed to address information gaps and market distortions without undermining investment incentives or constraining housing supply. At the same time, any measures must be operationally workable and take account of the diverse national housing and regulatory systems across Europe.
