The EU AI Act:
From Omnibus to Office –
Addressing Risk Across Sectors

The European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act introduces a risk-based framework for AI systems across various sectors. As implementation draws near, it presents both regulatory challenges and fresh opportunities – particularly in the workplace, where AI is reshaping human resources and management practices. This event will bring together policymakers, legal experts, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and worker representatives for an in-depth exchange on how the AI Act can safeguard fundamental rights while fostering innovation and proportionate compliance, especially for SMEs. The conversation will explore what qualifies as “high-risk” AI in workplace systems, how SMEs can navigate compliance obligations, and where greater clarity is needed to uphold workers’ rights. We will also examine the current state and trajectory of the AI Act, delve into real-world implementation scenarios, and take a closer look at how risk is managed in the workplace context.
