EU Agrifood Policy – Steering Through the Mandate

The upcoming event titled “EU Agrifood Policy - Steering Through the Mandate” will delve into the evolving landscape of the European Union’s agrifood policies, especially in the wake of the last European elections. As agrifood issues take center stage across the EU, this event will provide a platform for discussions on the key priorities that are expected to shape the sector during this legislative term. These include advancing sustainability goals, ensuring food security, promoting technological innovation, and strengthening the resilience of supply chains. As the EU navigates evolving consumer demands, environmental challenges, and geopolitical uncertainties, policymakers are also expected to explore strategies to balance sustainability objectives with the economic viability of the agri-food sector.

The event will explore the latest proposals that have been introduced, adjusted, or withdrawn, and how these changes are likely to shape the new Commission mandate. Participants will engage with questions such as: What will be the main priorities for the agrifood sector moving forward?

The event will serve as a key forum for understanding the intersection of EU agricultural policy, environmental sustainability, and international trade, setting the stage for informed discussions on navigating complex challenges while steering towards a sustainable and economically viable future for the agrifood sector. It will address key priorities, including sustainability through the Green Deal and Farm to Fork initiatives, food security by reducing import reliance and strengthening supply chains, and technological advancements like precision agriculture and carbon farming. Discussions will also cover trade policies, Common Agricultural Policy reforms, rural development investments, circular economy efforts, climate action via renewable energy, and consumer-focused policies to promote healthier, more sustainable diets.
